The EpiPen is just one egregious example.  It is time for big Pharma to stopping ripping off the American public as a whole by charging outrageous prices that increase everyone's health insurance costs.  Can there be any wonder that so many health insurance markets are devolving to single provider monopolies that increase the insurers' ability to pass along the costs?  Shame on Congress for creating incentives for corporate greed.  Shame on the FDA for being susceptible to the influence that ends up restricting competition.

"Thus a powerful belief in laissez-faire gripped the Jacksonian leadership, as it had the Jeffersonian.  But these agrarian individualists feared business power as much as they did governmental.  'Instead of setting man free,' Amos Kendall said, business power had only 'increased the  number of his masters.'"

"Some of the financial issues, hideously complex, were easy prey to facile simplification and demagoguery."

I would have thought that the director of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter would be a natural for the remake of Ben Hur.

The term "Political Science" inflates the dignity of politics and demeans the integrity of science.

I've got Trump-Pence
Jolly jolly Trump-Pence
I've got Trump-Pence
To last me all my life
I've got Trump-Pence to lend
And Trump-Pence to spend
And Trump-Pence to send
Home to my wife (poor wife)
No cares have I to grieve me
No pretty little girls to deceive me
I'm happy as a king believe me
As we go rolling rolling home
Rolling home
Rolling home
By the light of the silvery moon
Happy as the day
When the army gets its pay
As we go rolling rolling home

"The newspapers hastened to inform their readers that the Grand-Duchess was a royal princess of England, and, in the want of any other social event, every one who had any sense of what was due to his or her own dignity, hastened to show this august couple the respect which all republicans who have a large income derived from business, feel for the English royalty."

"The Compromise of 1877 marked the abandonment of principles and of force and a return to the traditional ways of expediency and concession.  The compromise laid the political foundation for reunion.  It established a new sectional truce that proved more enduring that any previous one and provided a settlement for an issue that had troubled American politics for more than a generation.  It wrote the end to Reconstruction and recognized a new regime in the South.  More profoundly than any Constitutional amendments and wordy statutes it shaped the future for four million freedmen and their progeny for generations to come.  It preserved one part of the fruits of the 'Second American Revolution' -- the pragmatic and economic part -- at the expense of the other part -- the idealistic an humanitarian part.  The settlement was not ideal from any point of view, nor was it very logical either.  But that is not the way of compromises."

"In an astonishingly short time George Creel had the entire nation - except of course for the disreputable minority who insisted on forming their own opinions - repeating every slogan which emanated from the President's desk in the wordy war to'make the world safe for democracy.'"

John Dos Passos, Mr. Wilson's War
